Leonard was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday under emergency conditions.
Leonard will give the Red Wings some forward depth ahead of Saturday's clash against Dallas. He has two goals and four points in nine NHL games this season. He leads the Griffins with 27 goals and 41 points in 34 AHL outings.
