Brandsegg-Nygard was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Monday.
Brandsegg-Nygard has played in all nine games for the Red Wings this season, producing one assist, 14 shots and 28 hits, but he has yet to find the back of the net. The decision to send the youngster to the minors could open the door for Austin Watson or John Leonard to be recalled in his place to serve as the team's emergency depth option at forward.
