Thompson scored a goal on two shots, added an assist, logged two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Blackhawks.
Thompson opened the scoring in the first period and set up John-Jason Peterka's game-winning goal in the second. Thompson recorded his first multi-point effort of the season, but he's been good with four goals and two assists over seven appearances. The top-line center has added 21 shots on net, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. He's still searching for his first power-play point, though that's not all his fault -- the Sabres have opened the year 0-for-21 with the man advantage.
