Bourgault was placed on waivers by Ottawa on Sunday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Bourgault reached an arbitration settlement on a one-year contract with the Senators in July and is slated to head back to the minors once the regular season begins, assuming he clears waivers. The 23-year-old recorded 25 goals, 32 assists and 34 PIM across 70 regular-season appearances with AHL Belleville last year.
