Filppula agreed to terms on a contract with Swiss club Geneve-Servette on Tuesday, RDS.ca reports.
Filppula garnered six goals and nine assists in 38 games for the Red Wings last season. With the move to Switzerland, the 37-year-old Finn is likely closing the door on his NHL career, which would see him eventually retire having played in 591 games with stops in Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, New York and Detroit.
