Boyd was recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday.
Boyd registered one goal and one assist in Iowa's season opener against Manitoba on Saturday. He will be an option to play in Minnesota's contest against Winnipeg on Sunday after Joel Eriksson Ek (upper body) was injured in Saturday's 5-4 shootout loss to Seattle.
