  • Michael Del Zotto: Announces retirement
    By RotoWire

Del Zotto announced the end of his playing career Wednesday. Del Zotto recorded 63 goals, 262 points, 1,672 hits and 1,038 blocks in 739 career NHL games with the Rangers, Nashville, Philadelphia, Vancouver, Anaheim, St. Louis, Columbus and Ottawa during his 13 NHL seasons. He reached the 30-point milestone on three occasions during his NHL career and set his personal best of 41 points in 2011-12. The 33-year-old had eight goals and 41 points in 65 AHL contests between San Diego and Charlotte last season.

  • Del Zotto was traded to the Ducks from the Red Wings on Monday in exchange for Danny O'Regan after Detroit had previously acquired Del Zotto from Florida in a swap for Givani Smith. Del Zotto has been playing in the minors this season with AHL Charlotte after being waived at the start of the campaign. In 25 outings with the Checkers, the 32-year-old blueliner has tallied two goals and eight assists. Now that Del Zotto is with Anaheim, he could be brought up to the NHL to bolster the defensive depth, though he will initially report to AHL San Diego.

  • Del Zotto was placed on waivers Sunday, CapFriendly reports. Del Zotto appeared at the AHL level last season for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign. The veteran blueliner will likely spend most of the 2022-23 season in the minors as well.

  • Del Zotto signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Panthers on Sunday. Del Zotto was bought out by the Senators with one year remaining on his two-year deal earlier in July. Even if the 32-year-old is able to secure a full-time spot on Florida's NHL roster, it's unlikely he'd offer more than mid-range fantasy value given his limited offensive upside.

  • Michael Del Zotto: Bought out by Sens
    By RotoWire

Del Zotto was waived by Ottawa on Tuesday in order for the team to buy out his contract, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. Del Zotto has played for eight different clubs over the course of his 13-year NHL career and appears set to find a new home next year after Ottawa opted against keeping him for the final year of his contract. Even if the blueliner can secure a full-time gig as a regular starter next season, he will be hard-pressed to offer more than mid-range fantasy value given his limited offensive upside.
