Stone announced his retirement from the NHL on Wednesday and accepted a role in the Flames' front office to assist with player development. Stone spent parts of the last seven seasons with the Flames, accumulating 228 games in a part-time role. He also played in 324 games with the Coyotes and amassed 145 points in his career.

Stone (lower body) supplied a goal in a 5-4 victory over Anaheim on Sunday. Stone was in the lineup for the first time since Feb. 18. His marker late in the third period put Calgary up 5-4. This was the 32-year-old's fourth career game-winning goal. Through 47 appearances this season, Stone has six markers and 11 points.

Stone, who didn't play Monday against Philadelphia, is slated to miss Calgary's upcoming three-game road trip. The 32-year-old blueliner has five goals, 10 points 86 shots on net, 55 blocks and 52 hits in 46 games this season. Dennis Gilbert is likely to remain in the lineup during Stone's absence.

Stone missed Sunday's practice and could be out for a while after he was spotted using crutches and wearing a walking boot at the arena, according to Eric Francis of Sportsnet. He has accounted for five goals, five assists, 86 shots on net, 55 blocks and 52 hits in 46 games this season. Stone will be replaced in the lineup by Dennis Gilbert.
