Steen announced his retirement Thursday due to a lingering back injury. Steen was selected by the Maple Leafs with the 24th overall pick back in the 2002 NHL Draft. The veteran winger spent four years playing for Toronto before being traded to St. Louis on Nov. 24, 2008. Steen spent the next 12 years with the Blues, racking up a combined 245 goals and 377 assists, including 183 power-play points in 1018 career NHL contests. The 2019 Stanley Cup champion also added another 36 points in 91 postseason contests. With Steen likely headed for long-term injured reserve, the Blues will be allowed to exceed the cap by $5.75 million.

Steen (undisclosed) told reporters he was dealing with his undisclosed injury prior to the Return to Play training camp, Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Steen also confirmed that he will be back for the 2020-21 campaign, his 16th season in the NHL. In 1018 appearances, the 35-year-old center has racked up 245 goals and 377 assists, including 183 power-play points. Heading into next season, Steen figures to remain in a bottom-six role.

Steen (undisclosed) won't be available for Friday's Game 6 against the Canucks, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. Steen's continued absence will test the Blues' depth up front, but it won't impact fantasy players, as the veteran forward has gone scoreless while averaging just 12:02 of ice time in four games this postseason. With Steen still on the shelf, Jordan Kyrou will likely hold on to a bottom-six role for Game 6.

Steen (undisclosed) did not take warmups and will not play in Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Canucks, Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Steen will miss his third straight game and fourth in the last five. The 36-year-old forward remains day-to-day. An update on Steen's status should arrive prior to Friday's Game 6.

Steen (undisclosed) will not play in Sunday's Game 4 matchup with Vancouver, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. There hasn't been much information on Steen's injury but he's now missed three of the four games this series. It's unclear if he'll be ready to return for Game 5 on Wednesday.
