Momentum is building between the respective camps of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in an effort to give boxing fans the bout they’ve long wanted to see.
Quick recap: Mayweather issued a definitive challenge to Pacquiao last Friday night and included a potential date for the mega bout. They were his most substantive comments yet regarding the fight. Pacquiao, via Sky Sports, re-iterated that he should be Money’s next opponent. “He has nowhere to run,” said Pacquiao.
“I will try my best to make this a thrilling and entertaining fight. But I doubt if he’s gonna engage me in a slugfest. You all know his fighting style.”
In case there was any doubt that both men appear to want this fight, Pacquiao fired off another message on Tuesday.
.@FloydMayweather, don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough.

While the back-and-forth banter feels like a massive PR scheme to drum up ratings, we’ll all deal with the charade as long as it yields the fight.
