As many of the world's top golfers head to Europe to become accustomed to next week's Open Championship environment, there is still one more PGA Tour event in the United States for those wishing to stay west of the Atlantic Ocean. The 2023 Barbasol Championship tees off at Keene Trace Golf Club in Kentucky beginning on Thursday. The co-sanctioned event between DP World Tour and the PGA Tour allows a chance for different golfers to score valuable points and compete for a victory in a weaker 2023 Barbasol Championship field.
Many of the world's top golfers are participating in the Scottish Open in Scotland or resting before the Open Championship, allowing the chance for different faces to emerge victorious at the Barbasol Championship 2023. The 2023 Barbasol Championship odds list Taylor Pendrith as the 18-1 favorite. Lucas Glover follows at 22-1, with Vincent Norman and Peter Kuest each at 25-1. In addition, the model included Nick Taylor in its best bets to win the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. That bet hit at +7000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,900. McClure's best bets also included Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic.

Top 2023 Barbasol Championship predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the Barbasol Championship 2023: Glover, the highest-ranked golfer in the field, struggles this week and barely cracks the top 10. He is coming off a pair of impressive performances, finishing tied for fourth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and tied for sixth at the John Deere Classic. However, Glover has been extremely inconsistent this season, missing the cut in 10 of his 22 events.
He has only finished in the top 25 on three occasions, so his recent results are complete outliers. The 43-year-old is also having to deal with the physical demands of playing a four-round tournament for the third week in a row. SportsLine's model has identified a plethora of golfers that is prefers over Glover, especially since he is one of the favorites.
Another surprise: Troy Merritt, a 45-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. He finished T-17 at the Rocket Mortgage Challenge and John Deere Classic over the last two weekends, shooting a combined 30-under par.
Those tournaments snapped a streak of five straight missed cuts and Merritt shot a 69 or better in all eight rounds of his last two events. The 37-year-old may not be the most imposing driver in terms of distance, but he hits them straight. Merritt ranks 42nd on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy and the ability to stay out of poor situations off the tee can be pivotal to hanging around near the top of the leaderboard.
