However, McIlroy missed the cut in his last start on the PGA Tour and he's struggled with accuracy this season. The four-time major champion enters the FedEx Cup Playoffs ranked 71st in driving accuracy (61.84%) and 90th in greens in regulation percentage (65.98%), which doesn't bode well for McIlroy's chances to finish on top of the leaderboard. Another surprise: Patrick Cantlay, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The 32-year-old is an eight-time PGA Tour winner and he's excelled historically in FedEx Cup events, winning the Tour Championship in 2021 and also winning the BMW Championship in 2021 and 2022.
He'll enter the postseason ranked No. 8 in the Official World Golf Ranking and he's 11th in the FedEx Cup standings. Cantlay was top-five at the 2024 U.S. Open and three other PGA Tour signature events.
