Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland will host its 10th Open Championship, with the first round of the year's final major set to begin on Thursday. Henrik Stenson shot 20-under par to win the 2016 Open Championship, snapping a streak of six straight Americans to win the British Open at Royal Troon. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will try to get Americans back on track at this course and aim for his seventh PGA Tour win of the season. He won the Masters in April and is the 4-1 favorite in the 2024 Open Championship odds. Scheffler will have to fend off 2024 Open Championship contenders like Rory McIlroy (8-1), Bryson DeChambeau (9-1) and Ludvig Aberg (9-1).

Top 2024 Open Championship predictions
One surprise: Tyrell Hatton, a 25-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. The Englishman has three top-20 finishes in his last four Open Championship appearances, including a T6 finish in 2019. He is still seeking his first major victory, but he has six top-10 finishes in major tournaments and is the third-highest ranked British golfer in the field.
Hatton has three top-five finishes in his last three worldwide starts, including a win at the end of June. He finished in a tie for fifth place at Royal Troon in 2016 and tied for ninth at the Masters in April this year. This would be the perfect venue for Hatton to record his first major title, and his recent form suggests that it is a real possibility.
The model has also examined where Scottie Scheffler (4-1) finishes at the 2024 Open Championship. It's easy to see why the world No. 1 is the betting favorite to lift the Claret Jug since he has 13 top-10 finishes on his 2024 campaign. He has won six events this season, including his second Masters earlier this season.
Scheffler surprised golf fans when he finished T41 at the U.S. Open, his only finish of the season outside of the top 20. However, he rebounded with a runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship after Tom Kim bested him by one stroke in a playoff.
