The 2024 Paris Olympics will provide golf fans with some star-studded groupings through the first two days of action. American Xander Schauffele, the defending Olympic gold medalist, will play alongside Viktor Hovland and Jon Rahm. Schauffele won two majors on the PGA Tour this season, so he'll enter the 2024 Olympics full of confidence. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 ranked player in the world, will be paired with Rory McIlroy and Ludvig Aberg at Le Golf National just outside of Paris. Play is set to get underway at 3 a.m. ET on Thursday, Aug. 1.

According to the 2024 Olympics golf men's odds, Scheffler is going off as the +300 favorite, followed by Schauffele (+525), McIlroy (+700) and Rahm (+700). Should you back one of the favorites to win the gold medal, or will a longshot like Matthew Fitzpatrick (+3000), Wyndham Clark (+5000) or Jason Day (+6000) finish on top of the podium? Before locking in your 2024 Olympics golf picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up nearly $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters -- its third Masters in a row -- and this year's PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now with the 2024 Summer Olympics golf field locked in, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard.

Top 2024 Paris Olympics golf predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Olympics golf tournament: McIlroy (+700), a four-time major winner on the PGA Tour and one of the top favorites, stumbles this week and doesn't even crack the top five. McIlroy is coming off a disappointing British Open where he missed the cut. He shot 11-over-par which is tied for his third-worst score at any major tournament over his 51 career major starts. This was McIlroy's first missed cut of the 2024 PGA Tour season, but the last time he missed a cut back in 2023, he then struggled again in his ensuing event, placing 47th.

McIlroy was tied for third place after 72 holes at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics golf tournament, pushing him into a seven-golfer playoff for the bronze. However, the struggles he's had down the stretch at major tournaments were also present at that Olympics as he was eliminated on the third hole of the sudden-death playoff and missed out on a medal. Unfortunately for McIlroy, fading down the stretch of high-profile tournaments has been a recurring theme since his last major win a decade ago, so the model sees better options with 2024 Olympics golf bets. See who else to fade here.

Another surprise: Tommy Fleetwood (Great Britain), a +2000 longshot, makes a strong run at the gold medal. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday.

In order to score well at Le Golf National, players will need to be extremely accurate off the tee and few do it better than Fleetwood. The 33-year-old is currently ranked eighth on the PGA Tour in driving accuracy (69.37%) and ninth in total driving (108). Fleetwood has also had success at Le Golf National in his career, winning the Open de France in 2017. Those impressive stats, plus his long odds, make him a strong value pick for your 2024 Olympics men's golf bets. See who else to back here
