The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida, has hosted the Valspar Championship since 2000, and it will serve as the host again this year when the 2024 Valspar Championship begins on Thursday. Longshots have been thriving at this event in recent years, including Taylor Moore winning at 50-1 last year. Despite winning the title in 2023, Moore is listed at 90-1 to repeat in the 2024 Valspar Championship odds. Xander Schauffele, who came up just short of winning The Players Championship last week, is the 8-1 favorite on the PGA odds board.

McClure's model predicted Scottie Scheffler would finish on top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship this season. McClure also included Hideki Matsuyama in his best bets to win the 2024 Genesis Invitational. That bet hit at +9000, and for the entire tournament, McClure's best bets returned nearly $1,000.
The model also predicted Jon Rahm would be victorious at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions and The American Express. At the 2023 Masters, the model was all over Rahm's second career major victory heading into the weekend. Rahm was two strokes off the lead heading into the third round, but the model still projected him as the winner. It was the second straight Masters win for the model, which also nailed Scheffler winning in 2022.
In addition, McClure's best bets included Nick Taylor (70-1) winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open, Jason Day (17-1) winning outright at the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson, and Rickie Fowler (14-1) finishing on top of the leaderboard at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic. This same model has also nailed a whopping 10 majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Top 2024 Valspar Championship predictions
One major surprise the model is calling for at the Valspar Championship 2024: Xander Schauffele, a seven-time PGA Tour champion and the odds-on favorite, fails to finish on top of the leaderboard. Schauffele is coming off an impressive T-2 finish at The Players Championship last week. He's now finished T-9 or better in four of his last six starts on the PGA Tour.
However, Schauffele hasn't been victorious at a PGA Tour event since winning the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open. He's also struggled with accuracy off the tee this season, ranking 100th on tour in driving accuracy (58.59%). The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook puts a premium on positioning off the tee, which doesn't bode well for Schauffele's chances to finish on top of the leaderboard.
Another surprise: Beau Hossler, a 45-1 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. He has a much better chance to win it all than his odds imply, so he's a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Hossler unfortunately etched his name in the record books at TPC Sawgrass during the second round of The Players Championship, hitting the 1,000th ball in the water at the par-3 17th hole since 2003.
He wound up missing the cut in that event, but he had been playing quality golf to open the season. Hossler made the cut in his first six tournaments of 2024, finishing T-6 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
