The PGA Tour's flagship tournament enters its final round as the best players in the world are through 54 holes at TPC Sawgrass with the 2025 Players Championship on the line. With just one month before major season begins, the final 18 holes in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, will determine who has momentum heading into the 2025 Masters.
It will almost certainly not be Scottie Scheffler feeling that wave at his back. Scheffler, the two-time defending champion at The Players, sits seven strokes back of 54-hole leader J.J. Spaun entering Sunday's final round. Scheffler was hoping to become the first golfer in history to three-peat this tournament; instead, he will focus on becoming the first golfers to go back to back at Augusta National since Tiger Woods in 2001-02.
Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa were two other prominent names in contention through the first three rounds. Only McIlroy maintains that position sitting four shots back of Spaun with Morikawa ejecting Saturday with a 77 that pushed him well behind the top of the leaderboard.
While there was hope that Tiger would suit up for The Players, he not only choose not to play in the tournament, the 15-time major champion announced Tuesday that surgery for a ruptured Achilles will keep him out of action indefinitely.
As for those who are still in the tournament after 54 holes, take a gander at the Players Championship purse and prize money distributions once play concludes Sunday.
While attending The Players is a dream for many, simply being able to watch the event live from home or the office is an incredible treat each year, and we here at CBS Sports are thrilled to bring you wall-to-wall action throughout the week. Enough talking about it. Here's how you can watch as much of the 2025 Players Championship as possible on Sunday.
