Another week, another young winner on the PGA Tour. This time, Michael Brennan entered the winner's circle at the 2026 Wyndham Championship, the 24-year-old converting a second 54-hole lead into a second career victory. In doing so, Brennan made a large leap in the FedEx Cup standings, moving from outside the top 100 and into those qualified to play in the postseason.
Brennan finished 22 under at Sedgefield Country Club, tying the course scoring record, good for a three-stroke victory over Beau Hossler. Brennan turned in a 5-under 30 to separate from the pack early on Sunday as he entered the final round tied for the lead with Hossler, whose name was atop the leaderboard since Thursday.
Needing at least a three-way tie for second place at the onset of the week to qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, Brennan did one better, moving all the way up to No. 47 in the season-long race. He was the only player to make his way inside the top 70 at Sedgefield CC and now finds himself on track to qualify for the BMW Championship and earn his place into the PGA Tour's signature events next season.
Brennan also earned his second straight invitation to the Masters. The Wake Forest product was one of 14 players to make the cut in all four major championships this season, in what was his first campaign in which he competed in all four of those key tournaments.
Brennan's second victory in just 29 starts was one that had been building. Contending at the 3M Open and featured in the final group in last week's Rocket Classic, he learned from those experiences and put the time under pressure to good use in Greensboro, North Carolina.
With those up ahead on the golf course, like Tom Kim and James, making charges, Brennan bided his time before catching a ride on the birdie train in the middle of his front nine. From one behind Hossler after three holes, Brennan went three in front by the time the final pairing made the turn.
Brennan made five straight birdies on Nos. 4-8 highlighted by a near hole-in-one on the par-3 7th with a 7 iron in hand from 210 yards.
Cruising on the back nine, Brennan was met with some adversity in the form of wayward drives. Missing fairways on Nos. 15 and 17 to the left as he started to ever so slightly speed up, he was able to keep his cool and save pars when things could have gotten away from him.
During this time, Hossler made the tournament a little more interesting with birdies on Nos. 16 and 17. What was once a four-stroke lead for Brennan over his playing partner was down to two as he marched to the 72nd hole. There, Brennan split the runway, brushed in one last birdie and cruised into the winner's circle, a place where he appears to be making numerous appearances for years to come. Grade: A+

2. Beau Hossler (-19): More than 250 starts into his PGA Tour career, Hossler is still searching for victory No. 1. On Sunday, he faced a win-and-in situation as he held the fifth 54-hole lead of his career and once again came up empty-handed. After a sensational iron performance on Thursday en route to a 61, Hossler relied too much on his putter to bail him out of sticky situations. While he did get off to a nice start Sunday, he needed to be tighter with his long game in the middle portion of the round to keep up with a red-hot Brennan and ultimately could not. Grade: A-
T19. Jordan Spieth (-11): Looked like a Sunday surge was about to produce his first top-10 finish of the season, but an ill-timed double bogey on his back nine made it so that Spieth settled for a top 20 instead. Still, it is a good finish and his first top 20 since May, as Spieth played well at Sedgefield CC this week despite a wild performance off the tee. He was able to summon some of that magic around the greens, making par from off the map, and in the process, perhaps garnered some confidence heading into the playoffs, where he is in need of a big week in Memphis to extend his year. Grade: B-
T29. Jackson Koivun (-8): His streak of 16 straight rounds under par as a professional came to an end Sunday, but his season was extended nevertheless. Koivun entered the week as the bubble boy in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, and he will leave North Carolina with his name on the tee sheet at the St. Jude Championship. He mentioned he did not have his best stuff Sunday, but he hung tough given the circumstances and the pressure that the postseason produced. Consider it another valuable learning experience for the 21-year-old who now looks to make some noise in the playoffs, where he is playing with house money. Grade: C+
T61. Cameron Young (-4): Young's first defense effort was one in which he took one step forward and then one step back the entire week. The three-time PGA Tour winner struck the ball beautifully but once again could not hole putts consistently. That continues to plague Young, who could not seem to miss for two months straight in the middle of the 2026 PGA Tour season. The powerful right-hander ranked top 10 in strokes gained tee to green, strokes gained approach, proximity and driving distance. Unfortunately, Young also ranked 81st out of 81 players who made the cut in strokes gained putting. Grade: D
T67. Brooks Koepka (-3): While he was in a solid position heading into the weekend, rounds of 74-70 sent Koepka home for the season. His final rounds were indicative of his 2026 campaign as a whole: He had zero confidence on the greens. No matter how well he struck the golf ball, Koepka was unable to keep up with his peers. His return to the PGA Tour produced just one top-10 finish on the season, a campaign defined by consistently poor putting and an injury that forced him out of the Canadian Open and halted what momentum he had created.
"It's pretty pathetic that I can't get through [to the playoffs]," Koepka said. "Zero top 10s basically in two years. To be in the prime of your career and be as good as I think I am, I think that's very pathetic, disappointing. Just need to go home and completely reevaluate everything." Grade: F
