Rays pitcher Alex Cobb tossed a strong start Friday against the Orioles.
Cobb allowed six hits over seven scoreless innings. He struck out six and issued one walk during the outing. Cobb nearly worked with way into trouble in the first inning. After giving up a single to the second batter he faced, Cobb managed to pick off the runner. That wound up being a good thing, as Cobb gave up a single to the next hitter. He was able to escape the inning without giving up any runs. Cobb also put two men on in the second inning, but worked around the base-runners. He did not put multiple runners on during an inning throughout the rest of the start.
Cobb picked up a no-decision for his efforts. He’ll take on the Yankees in his next start.
