Angels manager Mike Scioscia has altered his rotation for the next few games. With two off-days scheduled over the coming week, Scioscia was able to give some his pitchers some extra rest.
Right-hander Matt Shoemaker will now start on Tuesday against the Rays, and Hector Santiago will go next Friday against the A's, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Shoemaker hasn't started since Sunday and will go six games in between starts. Santiago, who pitched five innings on Wednesday, is also slated to get six days off.
Scioscia had already indicated that Shoemaker could be available out of the bullpen. It is not known if Santiago could also pitch in relief if needed.
