Angels' Williams taken to hospital after start

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Angels right-hander Jerome Williams was taken to an area hospital for precautionary reasons with shortness of breath after leaving Monday night's start against the Giants.

He was "improved and doing much better" late Monday night, according to a club spokesman, but was to remain in the hospital overnight and will undergo more testing.

Williams lasted 3 1/3 innings, allowing four runs and seven hits, and was seen laboring to breathe. He was taken to the hospital shortly afterward.
