The Athletics officially selected the contract of switch-pitcher Pat Venditte from Triple-A Nashville and optioned Dan Otero to Nashville. The club also transferred Coco Crisp (neck) to the 60-day disabled list, per the team's official website.

Venditte, 29, has been in the minors for eight years without getting the call. According to Craig Mish of Sirius XM, he'll be the first switch-pitcher in the majors since 1900. This season, he owns a stellar 1.36 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB ratio over 33 innings of relief for the Sounds.

Crisp has been sidelined since May 19 with a lingering neck issue. He received an epidural in his neck on Monday, and is expected to be shut down for the next month.
