The Astros have claimed right-handed reliever off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals, tweeted FOXSportsMidwest.com's B.J. Rains. Fick was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Wednesday, to make room for veteran reliever Brian Fuentes.
A 15th-round draft pick by the Cardinals in 2007, Fick has spent the majority of the 2012 season with Triple-A Memphis. In 42.1 innings out of the bullpen, he has 4.68 ERA, and has struck out 20 batters while walking 13.
The Astros will have to make a 40-man roster move on Saturday, when pitcher Armando Galarraga is called up to start from Triple-A Oklahoma.
