The Blue Jays have signed pitcher Justin Germano to a minor league deal, the team announced. Germano will also receive an invitation to big league camp during spring training.
The 30-year-old right-hander spent most of last season in the Red Sox’s minor league system. He was traded to the Cubs in June, and made 12 starts for the team. In 69 2/3 innings total this past season, Germano had a 6.20 ERA and a 4.11 FIP.
Germano saw limited time in the big leagues between 2004 and 2008. His best season came in 2007, when he threw 133 1/3 innings for the Padres. He finished the season with a 4.46 ERA and 4.51 FIP.
