Braves starting pitcher Brandon Beachy walked to the mound for the fourth inning Saturday night with a perfect game intact. Two outs and one walk later, he was departing the game with an apparent injury to his pitching elbow (MLBlogs Network). The Braves announced to reporters at the game that Beachy has a "sore right elbow."

This is especially worrisome because Beachy had some elbow discomfort after his last outing and the Braves gave him three days of extra rest before Saturday night.

Also of note: Beachy's fastball velocity to begin the game was up in the low-90s and it had dipped down to 86 in the fourth inning (via brooksbaseball.net).

Expect an MRI in the upcoming days, but let's not jump to any further conclusions just yet.

Beachy, 25, exits the game with an MLB-best 2.00 ERA. He's 5-5 with a 0.96 WHIP and 68 strikeouts in 81 innings this season.
