Braves outfielder Eury Perez checked out OK after colliding with Cameron Maybin in the outfield in the bottom of the ninth Sunday against the Pirates, per MLB.com.
Maybin was fine after the collision, but Perez was down on the warning track for a few minutes holding his torso before leaving the game under his own power. However, Perez's stomach and ribs checked out without injury upon further evaluation.
"I was a little nervous. I thought we were going to lose two players out there," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "We dodged a bullet there."
Perez, who entered the game in left field in the eighth inning as a defensive substitution, said through a translator he didn't hear anyone else calling for the fly ball. But he knew after the play he wasn't seriously hurt.
"We're playing for each other. We've got each others' backs and going hard," said Jason Grilli, who was pitching at the time of the collision. "I'm glad everyone is OK. That's the most important thing."
