Braves third baseman Alberto Callaspo has reportedly rejected a trade to the Dodgers, according to FOXSports.com. CBSSports.com Baseball Insider Jon Heyman confirmed the report.
Callaspo was expected to be part of a six-player deal, which would also send Juan Uribe to Atlanta. Callaspo had the right to reject the trade as a part of the collective-bargaining agreement because he signed with the team last offseason. Callaspo is a candidate to be designated for assignment.
Callaspo said he rejected the trade because he likes the guys on the team and hopes to play for the rest of the season with the Braves, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Callaspo is hitting .206 with eight RBI in 107 at-bats this season.
