The Atlanta Braves announced Thursday that they have signed utility infielder Ramiro Pena to a one-year, major-league deal.
In Pena's 180 games played at the major-league level, he has made at least 23 appearances at third base, shortstop and second base, with another two appearances coming in right field.
Noted more for his defensive prowess than his bat, Pena hit .233/.266/.288 in 338 plate appearances with the Yankees over the past four years. The 27-year-old hit .258/.325/.328 in 404 plate appearances at the Triple-A level in 2012.
