The Cardinals are among the teams interested in shortstop Ronny Cedeno, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
The Cardinals are entering the season with some question marks at short. Rafael Furcal is penciled in as the team's starter, but he’s currently rehabbing from an elbow injury. Pete Kozma filled in for Furcal admirably, but his numbers were boosted by a .415 batting average on balls in play. Cedeno would be a nice fallback option for the team if neither player is able to produce at the start of the season.
Cedeno, 29, spent last season with the Mets. In 186 plate appearances with the team, he hit .259/.332/.410.
