In Toronto, Francisco Cordero and his 9.53 ERA are out as interim closer, and right-hander Casey Janssen is in, tweets Gregor Chisolm of MLB.com. It is, however, perhaps a sign of the Jays' desperation that their new closer has a 5.53 ERA for 2012.
Presumably, though, Janssen is merely a placeholder until Sergio Santos returns from his shoulder injury. On that front, Santos was able to throw from a mound on Tuesday, but he's still at least two weeks away from being activated.
To date, Blue Jay relievers have blown seven of 11 save opportunities and recorded six losses.
