Blue Jays left fielder Chris Colabello was held out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Rays. It was the second time in three games and just the third time since May 4 he has not started.
It was originally reported Colabello might be dealing with a finger injury after he had one of his nails pulled back when the baseball hit him Monday. However, he was out of the lineup Tuesday because the Blue Jays wanted Ezequiel Carrera in left field for his defense with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey on the mound, per Sportsnet.ca.
Collabello, who drove in two runs during Monday's 8-5 win, is batting .319 (23 for 72) with one home run, four doubles, 12 RBI, 14 runs, two walks, 19 strikeouts and one stolen base in 18 June games.
