Sunday Rafael Dolis was demoted from the closer's role. Monday Dolis was demoted to the minor leagues by the Cubs, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune tweeted.
With Carlos Marmol activated from the disabled list before Monday's game against the Padres.
Marmol went on the DL on May 12 with a strained right hamstring and returned sooner than expected.
Dolis, 24, allowed at least one run in five of his last six appearances. Overall, he's 2-4 with a 5.68 ERA with four saves and two blown saves. He was removed from the closer's role after hitting a batter with bases loaded on Saturday and then gave up two runs without recording an out on Sunday.
While Marmol was the team's closer at the beginning of the season, he's unlikely to return to that role right away. James Russell and Shawn Camp are the most likely candidates to close for Dale Sveum.
