The Cubs optioned reliever Rafael Dolis to Triple-A Iowa and called up Jeff Beliveau to take his place in the bullpen, the club tweeted.
Dolis closed for the Cubs after Carlos Marmol lost the job earlier this season. He saved four games but lost the job quickly with two blown saves. Dolis struggled mightily after that point and owned a 6.44 ERA when he was demoted.
Beliveau, a left-handed reliever, is a strikeout maestro, delivering at least 10 per nine innings at every level of the minors during his career. However, he has struggled with his control for much of his career and had a 3.8 BB/9 at Triple-A before his call up. He owned a 4.10 ERA and a solid 3.05 FIP for Iowa.
