Considering that Cardinals third baseman and ruling World Series MVP David Freese has already in his young career lost almost 140 games to injury, there was likely a bit of panic when it was announced he would miss Saturday's game against the Cubs. According to the team, Freese was suffering from "irritation of a finger on his right hand."
Now, however, KMOX Sports tweets that, according to manager Mike Matheny, Freese has no structural damage in his hand and is listed as day-to-day. That's good news not only because the Cardinals are already stretched thin in the infield with Lance Berkman's injury but also because Freese is off to a tremendous start this season.
No word yet on whether he'll be in the lineup for tomorrow's 1:15 CST start.
