An MRI on Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross' left leg revealed a strain that will sideline the outfielder for 2-3 weeks, the team reported via Twitter on Tuesday.
Ross will still be able to hit and throw, but the injury will prevent him from running. If Ross takes three weeks to return, he will have just under a week of spring training remaining before opening day. The injury isn't likely to force him to miss regular-season games.
Ross is expected to open the season as the Diamondbacks' starting right fielder, although he may split time in a platoon with left-handed hitter Gerardo Parra.
