Tigers starter Drew Smyly tossed a quality start but was not backed by any run support on Friday against the Twins. The right-hander permitted one run on four hits and three walks while striking out two over six innings of a 2-0 defeat, dropping to 3-5 on the year.

Over his last two starts covering 12 innings, Smyly has allowed only two earned runs. He owns a 3.58 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 60 1/3 innings of work. He will make his next start Wednesday at home against the Royals.
