Former Dodgers outfielder Andrew Toles was arrested this past week after police said they found him sleeping behind the Key West airport, an area he refused to leave when asked. His address was listed as "the streets of Key West," via Miami Herald. He was charged with misdemeanor trespassing. Per the report, the only thing he had with him was a bookbag.
Toles, 28, was released by the Rays organization in 2015 and reports indicated it was due to disciplinary reasons. He then caught on with the Dodgers and hit .314/.365/.505 in 48 games. By the end of the NLCS, he was serving as their starting left fielder and leadoff man. He started the 2017 season in the same role, but he tore his ACL in his 31st game. He only managed 17 games at the big-league level in 2018.
Last year, Toles didn't report to spring training and the Dodgers eventually placed him on the restricted list, saying he was dealing with personal matters. He returned in late April, but ended up leaving again to deal with personal matters. He hasn't been back with the team since.
A 2018 profile in The Athletic revealed Toles has long dealt with mental health issues.
