Left-handed reliever Tim Byrdak has taken a unique approach in his search for work. He has tweeted a humorous message to whatever general manager might be interested.
"Attention MLB GMs," it began. "For sale, late model LHR, high mileage but very serviceable! Doesn't come with all the bells and whistles of newer models (i.e. 97 mph), however I can still break a pane of glass with my fastball. ... Please call ASAP. I am driving my wife crazy being home during spring training."
The 40-year-old pitched in eight games for the Mets in 2013 and recorded a 7.71 ERA that motivated the team to release him in late January.
