Globe Life Field in Arlington will host the 2024 Home Run Derby on Monday at 8 p.m. ET. Instead of beginning as a bracket-style competition, all eight players will battle against one another. The top four scores will advance to the semi-finals. The top scorer from the first round will be the No. 1 seed and the remaining seeds will be in order of score. The winner will take home $1 million. Pete Alonso is a two-time winner (2019, 2021) and he's the +305 favorite (risk $100 to win $305) in the 2024 Home Run Derby odds.

A pair of young and talented shortstops follow on the odds board with Gunnar Henderson at +400 and Bobby Witt Jr. at +410. Veterans Marcell Ozuna (+470) and Adolis Garcia (+600) follow, while Teoscar Hernandez (+1200), Ramirez (+1400) and Alec Bohm (+2400) are all longshots. 2024 Home Run Derby expert prediction

Selesnick is staying away from Henderson in the Home Run Derby 2024 even though he has the second-lowest odds at +400. He leads all 2024 Home Run Derby candidates in home runs, but ever since the switch to a bracket-styled Home Run Derby format in 2014, no player entering with the most home runs has won the Home Run Derby.

Not all elite home run hitters during a season translate to top Home Run Derby competitors facing batting practice. This is also Henderson's first Home Run Derby, as well as his first All-Star Game, so this is sure to be a hectic weekend for the 23-year-old. The Home Run Derby is a dream for many young players, but nerves and over-excitement can be a determinant, especially if Henderson gets off to a slow start. No shortstop has won the Home Run Derby since 2004 (Miguel Tejada).

Henderson ranks third in baseball in home runs (28), trailing just Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, but that has driven his price lower to a point where Selesnick doesn't suggest using Henderson in 2024 Home Run Derby bets. See Selesnick's best bet for the 2024 Home Run Derby right here
