The team also activated catcher Luke Carlin and moved left-hander Rafael Perez to the 60-day disabled list.
Cleveland manager Manny Acta told reporters (Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer tweets) that Santana suffered a "slight" concussion suffered in Friday night's game against the White Sox. Santana left the game after taking a foul ball off his mask in the eighth inning of the game.
The team also lost shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera to tightness in his left hamstring on Friday and DH Travis Hafner is out of the lineup on Saturday with a knee injury. Hafner didn't make the trip to Chicago with the team because of the injury.
