Indians starter Trevor Bauer flirted with a no-no on Thursday against the Astros, but still managed to pick up the win in his first start of the season.
Bauer (1-0) was pulled with a no-hitter after throwing 111 pitches through six innings. He struck out a career-high 11 and walked five. Kyle Crockett and Scott Atchison each pitched a scoreless inning, respectively before Jed Lowrie broke up a combined no-hit bid with a one-out solo home run in the ninth inning off Nick Hagadone.
Bauer will return to the mound Wednesday at home against the White Sox. He pitched 6 2/3 scoreless innings last season against Chicago.
