Nationals right fielder Jayson Werth was forced to leave the game Sunday night against his former team, the Phillies, with an injury to his left wrist. And after the game, it was revealed that Werth broke his wrist, as reported by every writer on site (including Washington Times and Nationals.com). Multiple reporters said nothing specific, only that Werth will be out "a while." There's obviously no timetable yet because a final ruling on whether or not surgery is needed hasn't yet been made.

The history here has to be concerning, too. Werth's career was temporarily derailed and nearly ended back in 2005-06 due to a left wrist injury and ensuing surgery. He then resurfaced with the Phillies in 2007 and eventually became an All-Star.
Werth entered Sunday night hitting .271/.369/.438 with three homers, 12 RBI and 10 runs for the now 18-10 Nationals. They're already playing without Michael Morse, Ryan Zimmerman (who is due back Tuesday) and Adam LaRoche on offense. Zimmerman and LaRoche should be back soon while Morse is likely out another month -- if not more.
The Nationals are now starving for outfield help. They don't exactly have another Bryce Harper to call up. Xavier Nady replaced Werth in right field while Rick Ankiel and Roger Bernadina are the center field options.
