Tom Wilhelmsen is the Mariners' most valuable trade chip, says The Seattle Times' Geoff Baker.
Wilhelmsen hasn't given up an earned run in over a month. Since being promoted to closer, he's 7 for 7 in save opportunities.
Teams might be willing to pay a decent price for Wilhelmsen since he's under team control for an additional five seasons.
Baker mentions Carter Capps, Steve Delabar and Stephen Pryor as three relievers who could assume the closer role if Wilhelmsen is traded.
Baker suggests the team would be smart to try and package Chone Figgins in a deal with Wilhelmsen. He says that since Wilhelmsen comes cheap, teams may be more willing to take on the remaining $13 million on Figgins' contract.
