Mariners starter Felix Hernandez had the worst start of his MLB career on Friday.
King Felix gave up eight runs in 1/3 of an inning, his shortest start since April 18, 2007. He left that start, eight years ago, due to tightness in his arm.
Hernandez faced nine batters. Eight reached base and all of them scored. He surrendered five hits, including two home runs, walked two batters and struck out one.
It was the most runs Hernandez has ever given up. He became just the 13th pitcher since 1920 to give up at least eight runs and record one or fewer outs.
"I don't know what happened," he said. "To be honest, I don't really know."
Hernandez's next start is Wednesday against San Francisco.
