Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested on a domestic violence charge Monday, according to a complaint filed with the municipal court in Fort Lee, New Jersey. According to Andrew Wyrich and Abbott Koloff of the Bergen Record, the complaint says Familia caused "bodily injury to another" person.

Familia was charged with simple assault after police were called to his residence at 2:22 a.m. Monday. Police found reason "to believe that domestic violence had occurred." Here's more from Wyrich and Koloff:

Police said in the complaint that Familia caused "bodily injury to another" and that they observed a scratch to the chest and a bruise to the right cheek of the victim, whose name was redacted in the court papers provided to The Record on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Mets said, "The matter was brought to our attention and we are monitoring the situation."

Familia was recently part of an ad campaign featuring athletics condemning domestic violence. In the ad, Familia speaks Spanish and also says, "I am not a fan of domestic violence." Here's the video:

Three players have been suspended under MLB's relatively new domestic violence policy. Aroldis Chapman served 30 games, Jose Reyes served 51 games, and Hector Olivera is currently serving an 82-game suspension. Chapman was not arrested following his incident.

Familia, 27, led MLB with 51 saves in 2016. He had a 2.55 ERA and struck out 84 batters 77 2/3 innings.
