Jason Bay has company on the Mets' disabled list, as right-hander Mike Pelfrey will be joining him on the 15-day disabled list. An MRI performed this morning showed swelling in his right elbow. However, the team said there is no course of treatment and that they may get a second opinion.
The team has yet to rule out ligament damage, according to CBSSports Insider Jon Heyman.
Pelfrey, 29, had a 2.29 ERA in three starts this season with no decisions.
To replace Pelfrey, the team called up left-handed reliever Robert Carson. Carson, 23, has a 3.18 ERA in five appearances this season, striking out six batters in 5 2/3 innings.
