In his 54th at-bat and 62nd plate appearance in the big leagues, Bryce Harper hit his first homer. The 19-year-old Harper took Padres right-hander Tim Stauffer out to straight away center field for a solo shot in the fourth inning, giving him his first home run in the big leagues.

"Hopefully it's one of many," Harper said after the game.

Harper's the youngest player to homer in the big leagues since Adrian Beltre in 1998 with the Dodgers.
