The drain-circling Cubs have defrocked another closer. First, Carlos Marmol's utter lack of control cost him the job, and now, tweets Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune, Rafael Dolis has pitched his way out of the job.

Dolis took the loss on Saturday against the Cubs, and he's given up at least one run in five of his last six appearances. His ERA for the season stands at 4.97.

As for replacements, Sullivan notes that manager Dale Sveum has yet to designate a new closer, but James Russell would seem to be the next in line. Russell boasts a 1.74 ERA on the season, but his peripherals don't quite justify such an impressive figure.
