<img alt= left-handed starter Derek Holland is headed to the disabled list with left shoulder fatigue, the team announced.
Holland has also been suffering with a stomach virus for two weeks and the team is concerned about fatigue for the 25-year-old. Holland left Tuesday's start in the sixth inning and has reportedly lost 15 pounds since picking up the virus in Seattle last month. Since then, he's made three starts and has given up 13 earned runs in 14 1/3 innings.
Alexi Ogando, the closer-turned-starter-turnered-middle reliever, is headed back to a starter's role to take Holland's spot in the rotation on Sunday. Ogando, 28, is 1-0 with a 2.27 ERA in 27 appearances this season, all in relief. Last season he made 29 starts and was 13-8 with a 3.51 ERA in 31 total games. He moved back to the bullpen this season when the team moved former closer Neftali Feliz to the rotation in spring training.
Tanner Scheppers has been called up to take Holland's spot on the roster. Scheppers, the Rangers' first-round pick in 2009, has appeared in 25 games at Triple-A Round Rock, going 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA and nine saves as the team's closer.
