Rays starting pitcher Matt Andriese allowed five runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in three innings while striking out four in his team's 6-6 tie with the Rays Monday.
Andriese had been pitching well coming into Monday's outing, posting a 1.10 ERA in 16 1/3 innings while striking out 10 batters, but he also issued six walks and allowed three unearned runs in his first five appearances. He's in the mix for one of the team's rotation spots with the Rays dealing with several injuries to starting pitchers.
"I try not to worry about [the competition for No. 4 spot]," Andriese said after the outing, per MLB.com. "I would love to go out there and go six with no runs. It's baseball. You learn from it and move on to the next one."
