The Braves have interest in signing free-agent outfielder Scott Hairston, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien.
However, O'Brien writes that Hairston might fall out of the Braves' price range, with multiple teams interested in the 32-year-old.
The Yankees, Mets and Phillies are among the teams that have all had reported interest in Hairston over the past few weeks.
The right-handed-hitting Hairston hit .263/.299/.504 with 20 home runs in 398 plate appearances for the Mets in 2012. He split those plate appearances evenly between right-handed and left-handed pitchers but performed markedly better against lefties, hitting .286/.317/.550, making him an ideal platoon candidate for interested teams.
The Braves are continuing to look for an outfielder who can play left field full-time, allowing Martin Prado to man third base on a regular basis. O'Brien also writes that the Braves would be reasonably comfortable platooning Reed Johnson in left field against lefties and Juan Francisco at third base against righties, with Prado moving between the two positions.
